Winnie M.H.
White Robinson
September 24, 1923 – February 24, 2023
On this date, September 24, 1923, Mrs. Winnie Maretta Hill White Robinson was born to the late Mr. Willie Hill and Mrs. Mary Hill in West Blocton, Alabama. Mrs. Robinson was the youngest of fourteen children, and all of her siblings preceded her in death. She was raised by one of her sisters, Daisy Hill Long, in north Birmingham, Alabama.
She was educated in the Birmingham City Schools system. After graduating from high school, she matriculated at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama. Pursuing her desire to educate, she furthered her studies at Alabama A&M, graduating in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.
In 1951, she married Arthur White, Jr. To this union, her one and only son, James White, was born. Her husband preceded her in death. She taught at the elementary level in the school system of Russellville, Alabama, for seventeen years. Afterwards, she took her talents to the school system in Madison, Georgia, to continue to teach young minds for an additional thirteen years. After retiring from education, Mrs. Robinson continued to work in sales at Zayre's department store in Birmingham, Alabama. There, she met her future husband.
On September 3, 1970, she united in marriage with Robert R. Robinson who also preceded her in death.
She confessed Christ and was baptized at a young age. After moving to Kingston, Alabama, she united with Mount Olive Baptist Church, having Christian experiences under the leadership of Pastor Edward Gardner who she worked closely with. She served in various capacities as the financial secretary and youth Bible teacher. She was committed to being at church very early to open doors, adjust temperatures, and make sure the sanctuary was ready for worship.
If you were oh so blessed to have known her, you knew that behind the stern persona there was a heart full of love, compassion, wisdom, humor, and a willing heart.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her loving son James White (Connie); her church family, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
