Obituary

On Thursday, January 4, 1940, The Door of Life welcomed Louise
Williams to the late Dorsey and Mary Williams in Linden, Alabama. And
there, Louise's journey began.
She was reared in a home with four siblings, Elizabeth (dec'd), Charlie
(dec'd), Adell, and Erma Jean, where the simple things of life were
treasured. She also shared fond memories with blended siblings, Matilda,
Alice, Mattie, Mose, and Hattie (dec'd).

At a tender age, she was taught about the Love of God, and as time passed she
confessed and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, Redeemer, and
her personal friend. Louise was baptized and united with St. Peter Baptist
Church in Linden, Alabama, where her faith walk began. Louise received
her formal education at Linden Academy High School, in Linden, Alabama.
On December 25, 1955, Louise Williams was united in holy matrimony to
William Nathan, Jr., and to this union of love, four children were born, and
that love was extended to her youngest sister, Erma Jean.
After relocating to Birmingham, Louise Nathan united and joined St. James
Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. George W. Blutcher
in January of 1956. As a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church,
Louise served faithfully on the Deaconess Board, Senior Ministry, Nurses
Guild, Intercessory Prayer, and in the capacities of various choirs, choruses,
ministries, and other auxiliaries.

The canvas of Louise's heart revealed a walk, reflecting luminous rays of
compassion, kindness, and benevolence encompassed with grace toward
humanity. Her sincere concern and encouragement to the young, as well
as the young at heart, spoke volumes through words and deeds. Louise
shared her thoughts, her time, and talents. She often extended her helping
hand with family, church, community and civic duties and organizations.
Her hobbies were sewing, decorating, homemade crafts, knitting and
crocheting.
Louise's garment of praise shadowed Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all
thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Her unwavering
faith in God and her belief in the power of prayer were undeniably witnessed
by those she met. Louise's greetings were always embraced with big hugs
and sweet kisses. She was mindful to give God all glory, honor and praise,
and she had come this far by faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, motherin-law,
grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, prayer
warrior, a mother figure to many and a child of the King. On Wednesday,
April 4, 2018, the Door of Eternal Life welcomed Louise to everlasting
sweet rest.

She leaves a legacy of love and memories to: a loving and devoted husband
of more than sixty–three years, William Nathan, Jr.; five loving children,
Erma Jean Nathan, Tony (Johnnie) Nathan, Linda Diane (Vernon)
Johnson, Vincent (Heather) Nathan, and Cedrick (Gail) Nathan; one
