Mrs. Willie Mae Ross, age 94, of Birmingham, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2014. She was a native of Talladega, Alabama born on December 11, 1919 to the late Nelson and Effie Phillips Turner McAlpine. She was a faithful member of First Ebenezer Baptist Church. She is survived by eight children: Lou (Joe) Keith of Columbus, Ohio, Bobby (Ann) Jones, Lovely (Eddie) Greene, Flenard McAlpine, Sr. (special friend, Dr. Margaret Major), Nelson (Vickie) Garrett, Synetta Garrett (Joseph) Allen, all of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Henry H. (Dr. Ilse R.) Ross of Commerce, Texas, Cassandra (Kenney) Davis of Theodore, Alabama; one sister, Ms. Bernice McAlpine of Oakland, California. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 600 Center Street North, Pastor Robert E. Dawson, officiating. Smith & Gaston Southside directing.
