Willie Beatrice Jenkins was born August 2, 1928 to the late Hezekiah Lewis and Elnora Hill in Greensboro, Alabama. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Rising Star Baptist Church in her home town.
On April 7, 1946 Mrs. Jenkins was united in Holy Matrimony to her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, the late James Edward Jenkins. The couple was married 61 years. They were blessed in their union with three beautiful children Patricia, Brenda, and Willie Edward.
Shortly after her marriage, Mrs. Jenkins joined Fourth Avenue Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Thomas. Fourth Avenue Baptist Church later changed to Living Word Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Stanley Stevenson. There, she served faithfully at the church for over 60 years. Mrs. Jenkins also served as Church Custodian, Sunday School Teacher, and Deaconess. Most of all, she enjoyed singing praises unto the Lord in the LWBC Mass Choir until her health began to fail.
Mrs. Jenkins was a dedicated insurance agent at Booker T. Washington Insurance Company for over 20 years.
During her life, Mrs. Jenkins was a very loving, caring, and generous mother, grand/great-grand mother, and friend, who truly loved the Lord, her church, and family. Some of her favorite activities she loved were cooking delicious dinners for her family and reading her Bible. Mrs. Jenkins departed this life on Friday, March 23, 2018.
