Viola
Evans
April 9, 1942 – January 2, 2025
Viola Evans was born on April 9, 1942, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Scott.
At a young age, Viola committed her life to Christ and became a dedicated member of Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she worshipped until her health began to decline.
Viola received her education in the Birmingham school system. She married her former husband, Calvin Price, in Birmingham and later moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where they began their family and welcomed three wonderful children. The family eventually relocated to Detroit, Michigan.
Known to many as "Bowlie," Viola enjoyed a fulfilling career and retired after over 20 years as a supervisor from the Athenaeum Hotel in Detroit. After raising her children, she found love again and married Arthur Evans, who brought joy and companionship to her life. Viola leaves behind: her beloved son, Calvin Price, Jr.; bonus daughter, Ada Mitchum (Bernard); cherished grandchildren, Aljumar, Telicia, Kalia, Elliana, Jonah Price, Lamar Staten, Lamar Scott, and Braxton Mitchum; and a host of great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will hold her memory dear.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Evans; her daughters, Regina Price and Felicia Price; her granddaughters, Shakeda Price; her sisters, Velma Tullis, Eloise Dennis, Jetta Scott, and Essie Mae Scott; and her brothers, Eddie Scott, Jr., Donald Scott, Johnny Scott, Isaac Scott, and Wayne Scott.
Viola Evans will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her vibrant personality, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
