Manley
May 12, 1936 – September 4, 2023
Vera Nell Manley was born on May 12, 1936, to the late
Hershel Blue, Sr., and Lola Robinson Blue in Birmingham,
Alabama.
Vera was educated in the Birmingham public school system.
She graduated from Western Olin High School.
She met and married Joe Manley. Vera worked and retired
from Riverchase Healthcare in Hoover, Alabama.
She confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior,
and she united with the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Rising, of
Birmingham, Alabama, where she served many years and did
the work of the Lord!
Vera enjoyed spending time with her loving family, watching
cooking shows with her sisters, and watching football with
her husband. "War Eagle!" She loved those Auburn Tigers...
Vera was a loving wife to her husband and devoted sister to
her four siblings. Her surviving siblings include her sister,
Jessie Rice, and brother, Reaf Blue.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her
husband, Joe Manley; siblings, Hershel Blue, Jr., and Dorothy
"T-Dot" Madison; and eldest grandson, Antwann Young.
Vera leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted daughters,
Sharon (David) Parham and Debbie (Earl) Lee; son, Tracy
(Renita) Manley; seven grandchildren, Darrius, Darah,
Amber, Kimberly, Ashley, Brandon, and Tracy; nine great-
grandchildren; sister, Jessie Rice; brother, Reaf Blue; and a
host of other relatives and friends.
