Obituary

A wonderful woman has received her calling to be with the Lord. Anyone who knew Valeria Farries would say that she was spunky, energetic, and woman of God. Valeria Farries went to be with the Lord on June 17th, 2016.

Valeria was born to the late Mr. Alonzo and Rosa Farries on March 20, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age while attending First Baptist Church of Fairfield where she served on the usher board, a member of the mass choir, secretary of the church office, and she conducted the church announcements. She also drove the church bus to pick up members for different church events.

Valeria graduated from Fairfield High School in May of 1977. While at Fairfield she was a proud member of Future Homemakers of America and she worked in the school office as a aide. She graduated from Miles College with a magna cum laude in Business Administration and Accounting. She also received her master's in Business Administration at Alabama A&M University. Recently, she was working on her doctoral degree in Business Management. Her business career consists of Booker T Washington Insurance Company and the United States Postal Service for 23 years.

Valeria enjoyed cooking for her family, decorating, traveling the world, and reading her bible. She enjoyed listening to music and her favorite gospel artist was Donnie McClurklin. She also started a non-profit organization called Loosing Divine Destiny where it focused on giving back to the community through the word of God. Valeria also did segments on gospel radio station WAGG where she would spread the teachings and the word of God through scriptures. She also had billboard signs around Birmingham about the word of God.

Valeria will be reunited in heaven with her loved ones who preceded her in death: father, Mr. Alonzo Farries Sr., brother, Mr. Alonzo Farries Jr., mother, Mrs. Rosa Farries, niece, Ms. Alona Rebecca Farries, and sister Mrs. Rebecca Farries.

Valeria leaves to cherish her memory and legacy: her loving and devoted sister, Mrs. Lesia Farries Baldwin (Doug); four nieces Renetta Nicolle Farries, Rechelle Darlene Farries-Kakooza, Lisa Osborn (Greg), Sequoia Va'Lesia Baldwin; one nephew, Alonzo Palmer Sr.; two great nephews, Ivan Rashaad Kakooza and Aaron Alonzo Kakooza. Valeria also leaves behind a host of cousins, friends, and one best friend William Gant.
