Tommie Currington,
Jr.
July 25, 1956 – April 18, 2024
TOMMIE CURRINGTON, JR. is the first born son of Mrs. Mary Currington and Mr. Tommie Currington, Sr.
Tommie accepted JESUS CHRIST as his SAVIOR at a very early age and continued his faith throughout his life.
Assuming the dash in between those years above, Tommie is a product of the public school system in Bessemer, Alabama. Starting his formal education based on catholicism with SISTER GANT private school. From there he entered Abrahams Elementary School where he matriculated very well. Later we moved to South Bessemer where he entered Charles F Hard school. His instructors really enjoyed him in their classrooms. They always had a word for his mom and dad about his activities in the classroom. Upon graduating from elementary school he was forced into integrating (with everyone else who was bussed) to Jess Lanier High School where he was not allowed to complete a full nine month school year for the entire four year curriculum because of the boycotts or what is better know as . However, each instructor was ordered to pass each student on to the next level.
In all of his excitement to leave the educational portion of his life he was granted the opportunity to work for PULLMAN STANDARD plant. He really enjoyed working for Pullman until its untimely shut down. He found himself working at DICKEY CLAY after this venture. He left there and moved to MILTON, FLORIDA where he was employed by the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NAVY military base. Later he left there and started a career for the city of SANTA ROSA which included an experience in construction for homes and businesses remodeling. And later tried his hand at the carwash business. Then he moved back home to BESSEMER, ALABAMA.
These members of his illustrious family preceded him in death, his father, two brothers, James and Gary, his grandmothers, all his maternal uncles, his five fraternal uncles. his Aunt Ruby, Aunt Luella. his nephew Ira, And a wife, Dessirae.
He leaves to cherish his memories Mrs, Patricia Hutchinson Currington (Cleveland, Ohio), Mrs Patricia Currington (California by way of Fla), His Children: Chrystal Currington (Cleveland, Ohio), Malaysia (Milton, Fla), two other daughters (Santa Rosa, Fla) . 6 grandchildren. His mother Mrs. Mary Currington, His siblings : Ronnie (and wife Eva), Johnny (and wife Penny), Alvin (and wife LaTasia), Rodney (and wife Alisa), Lula (and husband Walter), Gail, Veronica, Jeannette (and husband Andre'), Juanita, and LaFrancis (and husband Hamilton). His Uncle Bernard; Aunt Louise; HIS SPECIAL FAMILY(ANTHONY, SUSIE, SHEILA, VERNELL) 19 newphews, 10 nieces; 38 great nephews, 27 great nieces. A host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
