Obituary

Reverend Tommie Lee Harvey Sr was born September 16, 1950 to the late Georgia Mae Washington. He was raised by Georgia and her late husband Richard Washington. At an early age, he joined St. Paul AME Fairfield where he sang in the choir.

He was educated in the Fairfield School system and graduated from Fairfield Industrial High School in 1968. He was affectionately known as Whopp and loved celebrating and fellowshipping with his classmates. He was an outgoing, kind-hearted person who loved to dress especially in his 401s Overalls and Chuck Taylors. He was such an avid music lover and someone who never met a stranger. He was a friend to many.

He worked for over 25 years at UAB in Campus Maintenance Supply before retiring. Reverend Harvey served and did great works for over 23 years in the ministry. During this time, he served as the pastor at both Coppins Chapel AME in Dora, AL and Gravitt Chapel AME in New Market, AL. Even after retiring from the ministry, he continued preaching at various churches where tons of people were touched by his ministry. He was a benevolent servant of God.

Reverend Harvey departed this life on March 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Georgia Mae Washington and Richard Washington and 3 brothers Richard Jr., Gregory and Robert.
