A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

In Memory
Texanna S. Steve

Texanna S. Steve was born May 15, 1931, to the late Mrs. Rosie Lee Sanders Gamble and Mr. Emanuel Blackamore in Orrville, Alabama. Texanna's mother later married Gus Gamble who was a wonderful father throughout her life.

She was the youngest of three daughters. At an early age, Texanna accepted Christ.

Texanna affectionately called "Ma or Mother" later moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she began her life and later in Holy matrimony to Rufus Steve, Sr. They later started a family where four children were born. They were active and faithful members of Southside C.M.E Church for over fifty years.

Texanna was a devoted wife and mother who believed in morals and principles of life through God. She instilled those same morals and principles into her children.

Texanna loved her family and cared for them dearly. She was also a great cook and sewed in her spare time. She was an avid reader and was a firm believer in getting your education. She always spoke with positivity and always wanted Christ to be in all that we did. After a very brief illness, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, family member, and friend passed April 21, 2023 at her son Gregory's home, who was by her side.

Texanna was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Steve, Sr.; son, Melvin Steve; daughter, Alicia Steve; sister, Annie Lou Steve; parents, Emanuel Blackamore, Rosie Lee, and Gus Gamble; and several uncles and aunts.

Texanna Steve leaves to cherish her memories and will be missed by: her sons, Rufus Steve, Jr. (Mary), and Gregory Steve (Olentha'); sister, Susie Lee; devoted granddaughters, Kristie and Jacques Callen Steve, Shannon Turner (Bufford), and Erica Steve; three great-grandchildren, Chris Kelly, Keith Steve, and Chastity Steve Maddox (Keevious); three great-great-grandchildren, Haven, Gabriel Turner, and Akio Maddox; one godson, Derek Pollard (Gwen); three fur babies, Magua, T'Shaka, and Elias Steve; a special neighbor, Mrs. Willie B. Harton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
