Sherita Dionne Henderson was born on November 11, 1980 in Birmingham, Alabama to Cheryl Henderson and Ozell Henderson. She attended West End High School and graduated with Honors. She received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Stillman College where she joined the Delta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She was furthering her education at Alabama State University at the time of her illness. She was employed with the Birmingham Board of Education. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Sherita was musically inclined. God gifted her with the ability to play the piano, clarinet, and to sing. She has been a member of the Sounds of Birmingham Community Choir and the Birmingham Youth Jazz Ensemble under the leadership of the late Jothan Callens where she played the clarinet and was one of the featured soloists. She also played in the Jones Valley Middle and West End High School Band. She later received a band scholarship from and was the leader of the clarinet section while attending Stillman College.
She was baptized at an early age at St. Joseph Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Abraham Woods, Jr. She was a member of the Sunday School, Youth Usher Board, and the Youth Choir. She served in multiple leadership roles in the ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Jeremiah Henderson; one daughter, C'Erynne Henderson, both of Birmingham, Alabama; Mother, Cheryl (Kimble) Pettway; Father, Ozell (Brenda) Henderson, one brother, Antonio (Karuna) Henderson; one granddaughter, Saylor Rhea Brown; one Grandmother, Evelyn Square all of Birmingham, Alabama; one aunt, Tangela (Johnny) Ford of Montgomery, Alabama; three uncles, Jeffrey (Barbara) Square of Birmingham, Alabama; Timothy (Elizabeth) Square of Powder Springs, Georgia; Olando Square of Birmingham, Alabama; One niece and nephew, Machiah and Antonia Henderson of Birmingham, Alabama; a devoted Godmother Clarissa (Mack) Smith of Birmingham, Alabama and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
