Sr.
August 28, 1946 – July 12, 2022
Seyvon Brown, Sr. was born on Wednesday, August 28, 1946 in Demopolis, AL, but raised by his aunt, the late Helen Jackson in Birmingham, AL, a place he called home all his life. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church- Kingston from the age of four, where he served in numerous positions such as choir member, superintendent and teacher in the Sunday School, and as a deacon over the next 71 years. He was a graduate of C.W. Hayes High School and later president of the alumni association. Following graduation, Seyvon became a member of the US Army and earned the rank of sergeant, receiving several medals and honors during the Vietnam War. Upon completion his tour, he was honorably discharged, returning home where he married the late Joyce Elain Jones from Mobile AL. During these years, Seyvon served and worked in several civic organizations, including with the American Legion, Social Security Association, and at John Carroll High School. Seyvon Brown, Sr. left this earthly plane to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. He is survived by his widow, Linda Knight Brown; his children, Seyvon Brown, Jr., Aaron Paul (Amanda, Simon, and Rodney), and Kenyetta Knight; his sister, Lenora Dorsey (Sadie and Josh); his brother, Michael (Marilyn, Andrea, Matthew); and numerous other family members and friends.
