Rosetta Farris Brown, 76, of Birmingham, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2021. Rosetta was born April 7, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Indee Farris, Sr. and Doris Gilmer Farris. Her husband, Willie L. Brown, Sr., predeceased her in death May 13, 2017. She is survived by her four sons: Willie L. Brown, Jr. (Cynthia), Joel Allen Brown, Sr (Cheryl), Jonathan Patrick Brown, Joseph Hamilton Brown, sister Loretta Wheeler, five grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Rosetta graduated with a B.A. degree from Alabama State University in 1966. She went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Education at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1973. She served as an educator in the Jefferson County School System for approximately 30 years. She was a member of the Birmingham Genealogy Society, member of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. She was also an active member of the Sixteen Street Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, deaconess board member, tourism ministry member, and Chaired a number of other committee programs. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11am. Her body will lie in repost for 1-hour at 10am prior to services at the church. There will be a 100-person limitation at funeral services due to covid restrictions. Church members and friends are encouraged to meet
and greet during family visitation on Friday, May 21st at Smith & Gaston Funeral Home from 5 to 7pm. Face masks will be required.
