It is with sad hearts that the family of Rosel Watkins, Jr. announce his passing on Monday, October 19, 2020.  Rosel Watkins, Jr. was the eldest of six children born to the late Rosel Watkins, Sr. and Carrie Watkins.  Rosel, affectionately called Junior, graduated from Fairfield Industrial High School Class of 1963 and then Miles College.  After a long career in the medical field, he retired from UAB Hospital.  Rosel accepted Christ early in his life and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.  He could always be found studying his Bible and preparing to lead songs or even deliver sermons.

Rosel is preceded in death by both his mother and father as well as his sisters, Patricia Cunningham and Pearline Watkins.  He leaves behind a brother, Nathaniel Watkins;  two sisters, Bettye Ann Watkins and Linda Jo Watkins; a beloved nephew, and a host of nieces and other extended family.  Rosel will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Monday, October 26, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Smith and Gaston Funeral Home.  Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at New Grace Hill Cemetery.
