Mr. Roosevelt Maurice George transitioned into eternal life on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was a lifetime resident of Birmingham, Alabama and a member of St. John A.M.E. Church.

He was educated in the Birmingham City School System and attended Tuskegee University and Alabama State University where he met his wife, Carolyn Joseph George. They were united in marriage for over 49 years.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Lilliar Pruitt George and Roosevelt George.

Left to cherish his memory is a loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Joseph George; two daughters, Ina George (Morris, Jr.) Bell and Martai George (Roderick) Alexander; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one brother, Anthony Earl George; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Public viewing will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. util 6:00 P.M. at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel, 102 - 6th Avenue S.W., Birmingham, Alabama 35211. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John A.M.E. Church, 708 - 15th Street North, Reverend Mashod Evans, Sr., Pastor and Officiating Minister. Service of committal and site of burial is Elmwood Cemetery.
