Obituary

Mr. Ronald Eugene Leonard was born on March 5, 1951, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Vanza
and Mamie Leonard in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the couple's first child. He departed
this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

He confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church, Fairfield, Alabama, under
the pastorate of the late Reverend E. W. Williams.

He attended Fairfield City schools and graduated from E. J. Oliver High School in 1969. While
in high school, he played trumpet in the marching and concert bands. He worked several jobs
in Birmingham before he joined the United States Army in September of 1972 and achieved
the rank of SP4. He became a medical specialist in February of 1973. His last duty was in the
50th infantry, Second Army Division. He was decorated with the National Defense Service
Medal: Rifle Marksman.

Upon completion of his military service, Eugene attended and graduated from culinary school.
He worked as a chef at several restaurant establishments in Birmingham, Alabama, West Palm
Beach, and Lake Worth, Florida.

Eugene was a proud father of five children, Keldrick Leonard, Koryelle Leonard, Vanza
Leonard, Toby Leonard, and LaSheila Henderson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his one loving, devoted sister, Vanessa Dale Leonard Chavers
of Birmingham, Alabama; five children, Keldrick (Famika) Leonard, Koryelle Leonard, Vanza
(Chelsea) Leonard, Toby Leonard, and LaSheila Henderson; eight grandchildren; two nieces,
Philecia Avery and April Bolden (J'Afre); two great-nieces, Taylor Avery and Jaelen Bolden;
two great-nephews, Trey Avery and Aeden
