Obituary

Ronald Fay Larry was born to the late Audrey L. Watson and late Edward D. Larry Sr on September 26, 1948, in Alexandria, Louisiana. After the death of his biological mother, his father remarried Daisy M. Bowie, who remained an important person in his life. He was blessed
to be cared for by his grandparents Mary W. Larry and Admiral D. Larry. Mr. Larry grew up in Alexandria and attended Peabody High School. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

A Time to Plant

At an early age, Mr. Larry confessed his Life to Christ and was baptized at True Vine Baptist Church, Alexandria, Louisiana. He later moved his membership to Jackson Street Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama. While at Jackson Street Baptist Church, he was a Choir member and Coached the Youth Basketball Team.

A Time to Build

Mr. Larry united in matrimony with Vera D. Merriweather. To this union, three children were born, one daughter and two sons. He served for the United States Army, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, The Cross of Gallantry with a Bronze Star during the Vietnam War. He joined the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Larry retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years. A Time to Stand Alone

Mr. Larry  journey to move alone began on June 13, 2021. His memories, integrity, grace, and above all, unconditional love will be carried on by his loving family. Vera Merriweather Larry (wife), two children Auvergene J. Larry and Artishia A. Larry. One son preceded him in death, Oliver W. Larry. Five Grandchildren Zackery Larry- Baldwin, Eden Palmer, Sierra O. Larry, TanyiMbi &  James & ; Larry, and Leo Larry. One Brother, Donald Ray Larry (twin), preceded him in death. One Brother, Edward D. Larry Jr. (Doris), and two Sisters Claire B. Scott and Jackie A. Green (Charles). Four Brother-in- laws James N. Merriweather Jr. (Alice), Norman Merriweather (Kaye), and Charles Green. Three Sisters-in-law, Doris J. Larry (Edward), Veronica T. Smith (Willie), and Valeria J. Jackson. A host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Public Viewing will be held Saturday, June 19,2021 at Smith and Gaston Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon- 7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held Sunday, June 20,2021 at Smith and Gaston Southside Chapel.
