Robert L Mitchell was born April 7, 1952, to Ulysses Mitchell and Lula Mae Mitchell Thomas. He attended Lincoln Elementary and was a proud graduate of A.H. Parker High School where he played football and known as "JoJo Number 74" Robert started his Christian walk under Rev Abraham Woods Jr. at Saint Joseph Baptist Church.
Christmas of 1987, he married Rosalyn Maria Wells, and joined Sixth Avenue Baptist with Rev. John T Porter as his pastor and now Pastor John L Cantelow III.
Robert was a self-made man, owned several businesses over the years but his passion was driving and considered himself a Professional Truck Driver and loved it! His trucker friends always called him "Big Man".
He as an avid deep-sea fisherman, coin collector and had his share of antique cars.
On Tuesday morning January 23, 2024, he ended his earthly journey after a brave battle with Dementia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Olen Thomas Sr., siblings, Johnnie Mae, Juanita, Faye, Melvin, and Olen Jr.
He leaves precious memories with his loving wife Rosalyn, and devoted daughter Lauren; sons Chris (Phelicia); Denorrius (Felecia); Duriel (Charenthia); special niece Ashley (Gabriel). Grand children: Kimberly, Karmen, Denorrius Jr., Tangenisia, Kailynn, Kason, Damien and Za'Dariya
Great grandchildren: DeKariah, Laila and Lamarrius. Siblings; Dallas Mitchell (Stella), Ulysses Mitchell Jr., Albert Mitchell, Tommy Mitchell, Timothy Thomas (Andrea), Teresa Mitchell
The family would like to extend a special thank you to some wonderful people that went over and beyond during Robert's time of need, Sadie Swyne, Stanley Silas, Bria Hodo, Micheala Carrington and Mark Hayes. For some people caring for a patient or friend is a job, and for some it's a calling.
