August 12, 1934 – September 22, 2023
Robert Lowery was born to the late Sylister and Mary Kate Lowery on August 12, 1934, in
Gastonburg, Alabama.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Gastonburg,
Alabama.
At the age of 19, he relocated to Birmingham, Alabama.
Before retiring in 1990, he was employed with the City of Birmingham after diligently
working for 37 years.
Robert was a family man. He not only served as a provider for his wife and kids. Also, he
earned the nickname "Chief" because of his dedication to his younger sisters and brothers
whom he served as a caregiver and role model, after the early sassing of their parents.
Robert hobbies included, hauling scrap metals, traveling, watching western movies and
wrestling shows.
Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, Harrie G. Lowery, Rebecca Lockett, Willie
Lowery, Sylister Lowery, Jr., Cora Harris, Victory Williams, John Lowery and James Lowery;
grandsons, Kaden Webb and Jeremy Lowery and son-in-law, Keith Webb.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of sixty-seven years, Hazel Lowery; six
children, Robin Walton, Jeanette Jordan, Robert, Jr. (Gloria) Lowery, Ronald (Cynthia)
Lowery, Demetrius Lowery and Detra Webb; eleven grandchildren, Kecia, Katerria,
Natasha, Monique, Senethia, Andrea, Robin, Mylaka, Jayla, Jamal and Ethan; seven great
grandchildren; four sisters, Betty (Willie) Young, Katie Pettaway, Ethel Lowery, Annie Gray
and Lillie Jiles; one brother, Dan Lowery.
