Robert "Sonny" Grant, Jr. was born on July 29, 1946 in Macon, MS to Robert Grant, Sr. and Nettie Ruth Rupert.

He was a resident of the Wylam Hills neighborhood and an alumnus of Abrams High School. Sonny proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

He was called home on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Grant, Sr. and Nettie Ruth Rupert; brother Willie Grant; sisters Dorothy Braithwaite (Paul), Edna Speed Burt (Franklin), and Patricia Miller; father-in-law Eugene Prowell; mothers-in-law Mary Eta Prowell and Mazie Lee Glover; and son Robert Grant III.

Sonny was an amazing, kind, gentle, and hardworking man. He was an exceptional son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. He took care of everyone and loved his family deeply.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Mary K. Grant; daughters Angela and Tracy; sons Glenn Jr., Marcus, and Adam; grandchildren Marquita, Johnny, Devin, Sheqour (Marqueese Sr.), Robert IV, Khristian, Glenn III, La'Korre, Tylar, and Adrian; great grandchildren Ashanti, Marqueese Jr., Gabrielle, Rylee, La'Myra, London, Marquez, Kaidan, and Anaya; sisters Bertha, Hattie, Barbara, Linda (Charles), Deborah, Carla, and Faye; brothers Roy and Kerry; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
