Mr. Reginald McClain, Sr., affectionately known as "Dino" and "Hollywood", passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born January 7, 1966, he was a lifelong resident of Birmingham and a cherished father, grandfather, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Reginald was a devoted family man whose passions included sports and community service. A proud member of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized, he committed himself to nurturing and supporting his family and was dedicated to being a loving father and an exemplary individual.
Reginald was educated in the Birmingham City Public School System, graduating from A. H. Parker High School in 1984. During his time there, he excelled as a defensive cornerback, proudly wearing the #2 jersey for the Mighty Thunderherd football team. His outstanding athletic talent earned him a scholarship to the University of Louisville in Kentucky, where he continued his studies and football career.
Professionally, Reginald "Dino" McClain was a distinguished and highly successful automotive salesman, representing Brannon Honda and Jim Burke Automotive in Birmingham for over three decades. Throughout his career, he garnered numerous accolades, including multiple "Salesman of the Year" awards, and was widely regarded as a legendary figure in the local automotive industry. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a respected and influential member of the Birmingham community.
Reginald was preceded in death by his parents, Velma Lewis Bell and Ralph McClain, Sr., his stepfather Lonnie Bell Jr., and nephew Carlos DeWayne Bevelle. He leaves behind a legacy of love and treasured memories to his sons, Reginald (Stephanie) McClain Jr. and Cameron McClain; his brothers, Ralph (Eva) McClain Jr. of Birmingham and Kevin (Angela) Bell of Chicago, Illinois; his sisters, Cynthia Lewis, Vanessa Cook, and Constance Anderson of Birmingham; Kidada (Desmond) Robinson and Reythia McClain, Rosheata McClain, Michelle McClain of Atlanta, GA. His beloved grandchildren, Carmen, Kyan, and Ezekiel. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Hollywood" by his nieces and nephews.
Reginald is also survived by his aunts Ruth Brewster of Atlanta, Georgia; Thelma Johnson, Fannie Lewis, Emma Jones, Juanita Santana, Deborah Bell, and Pearl Bell of Birmingham; Linda (John) Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama; Beth Lewis of Los Angeles, California; and his uncles Leon (Bernice) Lewis, Oliver Hanberry, Sr., and Johnny Bell, all of Birmingham. He cherished lifelong brothers/cousins/friends, Michael Johnson, Maurice Johnson, Melvin Cook, Rev. Isra Creer, and Stephen Jacobs, Jeffrey Wood, and other beloved relatives and friends.
A man of heart and hustle, and a proud Dallas Cowboys football fan, Reginald's kindness and strength left an unforgettable mark on everyone he met. His enduring spirit and commitment to family and community will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
