Regina Ann
Williams Slaughter
December 25, 1951 – April 22, 2026
Regina Ann Williams Slaughter, lovingly known for her gentle spirit and unwavering grace, was born on December 25, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Dorothy Mae Jemison and Columbus Williams. On April 22, 2026, after 74 years of a life richly lived and deeply cherished, she peacefully transitioned, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, faith, and quiet strength.
Regina was the embodiment of warmth—a woman whose presence brought comfort, whose words carried wisdom, and whose life reflected the beauty of a giving heart. She found her greatest joy in being a devoted wife, a loving mother, doting grandmother and a guiding light to all who knew her. She shared a beautiful life and enduring partnership with her husband, Garry, a union grounded in faith, friendship, and devotion.
She was a proud and nurturing mother to her daughters, Krystle and Krystenn (DanYelle), whom she raised with intention, grace, and love. Her grandchildren—Karrington, Kamryn, Kelsei, Kason, Kamille, and Kynsley—were her pride and joy. She delighted in each of them, pouring into their lives with tenderness, laughter, and the kind of love that leaves a lasting imprint across generations.
Regina's academic journey started in the Birmingham Public Schools, she went on to graduate from Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University), where she cultivated both knowledge and lifelong work ethic. Her continued pursuit of education led to her obtaining a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Alabama. Building upon her academic foundation, Regina developed an illustrious career in social work and retired as an Assistant Director after 20 plus years of dedicated service to the Alabama Department of Human Resources. Throughout her career, she developed lifelong friendships that were honored at monthly luncheons and milestone celebrations. In addition to academic and professional success, Regina was a proud initiate of the Gamma Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and continued to faithfully serve in the Birmingham Alumnae chapter where she lived out the organization's principles with elegance and purpose, forming bonds that reflected her commitment to service, sisterhood, and excellence.
Regina loved to travel in her free time and took joy in planning countless trips with friends and family. Whether she was in Miami, Florida visiting her treasured brother Columbus Jr., (Bubu) spending time in New York or Washington, D.C. with her dear sister Brenda (Faye), enjoying Disney World with her grandchildren, or taking a quick trip to Atlanta to see her best friend Lucretia (Lucy), Regina was always there—creating beautiful, lasting memories with the people she loved most.
A true Proverbs 31 woman, Regina led her life with dignity and quiet authority. She had a special gift for making a house feel like home. Whether tending to her beloved houseplants and flower gardens, or preparing meals that brought family together, she created spaces filled with love, laughter, and belonging. Her home was a gathering place—a sanctuary where stories were shared, hearts were nourished, and memories were made around her table.
She was, in every sense, a leading lady—graceful in her walk, kind in her spirit, and steadfast in her love. Regina's legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the example she set.
Though she is no longer with us in the physical, her spirit remains—a sweet and steady presence that will continue to guide, comfort, and inspire.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She leaves to cherish the memories: her beloved husband, Reverend Garry Bernard Slaughter; two daughters, Krystle Slaughter Manley (Keith), Birmingham, AL, Krystenn Slaughter Nevitt (Ezeikiel); Grandchildren, Karrington Jordan Manley, Kamryn Kristopher Slaughter, Kelsei Justice Manley, Kason James Nevitt, Kamille Jolie Manley, and Kynsley Grayce Nevitt. One sister, Brenda Mendoza, Fort Washington, MD; two brothers, Columbus Williams, Jr. (Brenda) and Cornelius Williams, Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
