Ransom Martez
Holloway
April 10, 1988 – October 7, 2022
Ransom Martez Holloway grew up as a courageous, vivacious youngster within the West End
community under the careful and watchful eye and nurturing hands of Mr. George and Glennie Moore.
He was always full of energy, excited to assist others, and eager to lend his expertise wherever needed.
His formative years included Price Elementary School, where he began to make a substantial impact on
his contributions to society. Ransom was involved with extracurricular activities after-school at the A. G.
Gaston Boys Club, where he enjoyed playing football. Although sports were not his favorite pastime, he
was always a technology guru. He could problem-solve just about anything pertaining to a computer. He
was a modern-day "Benjamin Banneker" of sorts, that loved technology. During his adolescent years,
West End High School became even more instrumental in creating a convincing mentality that helped
shape his thoughts around the idea that whatever he wanted to do was attainable, which made his work
ethic impeccable.
"Ran-Ran," as some family members sang his name, had a strong will and was always very determined.
Believing that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, he confessed Christ at
an early age, becoming delivered and spirit-filled. Ran received training inside the church during his
childhood under the leadership of Pastor Hobdy Moorer (6th Street Peace Baptist Church) and later
joined Mt. Zion (Bishop Awalski Moore) attending Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and church
programs at 6th Street Peace; those weren't particularly his ebb and flow. Ransom's ministry was seen
clearly through missions and with strangers that he would encounter outside the four walls of the church,
where he offered housing to those in need and job opportunities to those who were unemployed.
His life bespoke of being not careful to entertain strangers; for some have entertained angels unaware.
-Hebrews 13:2
"Handsome Ransom," as he was affectionately sometimes called too, celebrated life to it's fullest. It was
his biological mother, Louise Holloway, who would give birth to this bouncing baby boy on April 10,
1988, in Birmingham, Alabama, and make him her mother's namesake, Ransom, signifying their bond.
It was a soothing relief to have Ransom share and build more memories in the city of Atlanta with her,
at the age of sixteen, as he would transition from Birmingham. He soon left Birmingham behind and
explored more of the world, learning that there were endless possibilities and opportunities.
Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men consequently, which is what Ransom
lived out loud.
He was very inquisitive, which helped cultivate him into becoming a quick study, where he would manage
several major food chain industries including, KFC, Krystals, and Burger King. He had favor with his
General Managers and loved helping everyone, as he was a free spirit.
Ransom lived his life in a way that was pleasing to him. He had a big heart and sought to make all
those who felt excluded feel included. He was fearless. His strong independence allowed him to make
friendships across traditional boundaries, which included the LGBTQ community.
Ransom departed this life on October 7, 2022. and was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ransom
David Sanders-Holloway; sister, Yashica Kenyon Holloway; and nephew, Montrell Holloway.
He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Louise Holloway; two brothers, Bishop Awalski (Lady Elatio
Moore) of Trussville, AL, and Pastor Dembraski (Dr. Margarette Moore) of Keene, TX,; four nephews,
Ty'Qwan Bonner, Messiah Pearson, Elijah Moore, and Elisha Moore, three nieces, A'Nya Bonner,
Shakeena Holloway, and Madison Moore; two great-nieces, Camari Ford and Mariah Holloway; great-
nephews, Noah Holloway, Amari Holloway, Tyus Bonner, Freddie Williams, and Goldie Myers; mom,
Glennie Moore; dad, George Moore; Venesta Blakey, Rose Washington, and Ray (Mellissa) Holloway,
all of Atlanta, GA; Fred Holloway, Jr.; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
