Phyllis D'eidre Conwell was born August 6, 1959 in Birmingham, Alabama to Walter L. Conwell, Sr. and Catherine N. Conwell. She was the 5th of 6 children born to Walter and Catherine (Walter, Jr., Charles, Tiajuana, Maurice, and Roderick). She was proceeded in death by her father in 1990, mother in 2019, brothers, Walter Jr. in 1974, Maurice in 2009; sister, Tiajuana in 2016; beloved sister-in-law, Inger in 2016; and nephew, Jerill Long in 2019

Phyllis grew up in the Smithfield neighborhood of Birmingham where she was a member of St. Paul AME Church, Smithfield her entire life.

Phyllis spent her kindergarten and elementary school years at Mrs. Coats Kindergarten and Graymont Elementary School, both in the Smithfield community. Her freshman year of high school was spent at Glenn High School in Birmingham, before the Conwells moved to Hueytown, AL where she graduated from Hueytown High School, class of 1977.

After high school, she attended Talladega College (University) for 2 years before transferring to the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Phyllis' career path took her into various positions within the field of administration, holding multiple titles, mostly in leadership capacities. Her final 13 years in the workforce were with UAB Medical billing as Patient Financial Services Team Lead and remained a very devoted and great leader until her untimely illness at the end of 2019.

On December 26, 2024, Phyllis departed this earth at the home of her brother, Roderick who was by her side, and went on to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by: brothers Charles (Linda) and Roderick Conwell; nephews, Walter Conwell, II, Korey Moore, Marcus (Shaylyn) Rembert, Roderick Conwell, Jr., and Brian (LaTiesha) Johnson; nieces, Raven Conwell, Loreal (Danté) Pride, and Kari Moore.
