Mrs. Nora Carter Lamar, was born March 24, 1936 in Montgomery, Alabama. When she was young, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Parker High School and she retired from "The Birmingham News" after many years of dedicated service.
She departed this life on November 30, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade H. Lamar and mother, Addie B. Carter.
She leaves to cherish: three loving daughters, Marla (Jerry) Leonard, Emma Yvette (Bruce) Waters and Sherita (Durece) Etheridge; five grandchildren; Markia (Alan) Anderson, Jerry Leonard, Jr., Bruce Waters, Jr., Dylan Etheridge and Madison Etheridge; four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lamar, Aston Lamar, Aiden Anderson and Jeremiah Leonard; two sisters, Malinda Yelder and Louise Jackson of Montgomery, AL; a devoted nephew, Rev. Carl Carter of Sacramento, CA; a devoted aunt, Viola Hughes of Montgomery, AL; a host of other relatives and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will truly, truly be missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2:30 P.M. at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel with burial in Carver Cemetery. Smith & Gaston Southside directing.
