peacefully transitioned into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 6, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joe N. Lyles. She leaves to cherish her legacy of unconditional love and hugs: five children, DeWayne (Mary), Deborah Lyles-Smith (Willie), Marvin (Trellis), Angelyn and Joycelyn (Edward) Coke. She was blessed with nineteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a devoted and loving sister, Alice Whatley of Cleveland, OH and special nephew, Dr. John C. Whatley of Birmingham, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Special and heartfilled appreciation and gratitude to all who lovingly cared for our mother at UAB Highlands, South Highland Senior Center, Hospice of Alacare and numerous others. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Smith & Gaston Southside directing.
