Obituary

Sister Naomi Peterson Green was born October 21, 1955, in Crenshaw County, Alabama, to the late Deacon Charles Ray and Pastor Emma L. Peterson.

In 1957, she joined Mountain View AOH Church of God, under the leadership of Overseer Eugene Robinson and other pastors including her mother, Pastor Emma L. Peterson. Sister Green served Mountain View faithfully where she served as the church secretary, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. She later moved to Hibernian Street AOH Church of God, where she served under Bishop Larnie White and under
her current pastor, Elder Anthony Stephens. She was the church secretary there, as well, and loved what she did. She loved her pastor and church family unconditionally. She actively and faithfully served until her transition.

Sister Green was a graduate of Gardendale High School and Booker T. Washington College. In 1993, Naomi was employed with Alabama Thrift Stores as a merchandise clerk. After deciding on a career change, in 2001, she became employed with Birmingham City Schools as the secretary of Wilkerson Middle School until her retirement in 2018.

Sister Green was strong in her faith, kindhearted, giving, funny, loved to cook, would feed anyone who was hungry, and loved her family with everything within her. She always wanted to be around her family. She will truly be missed; her life exemplified virtue, faith, and greatness, which is the perfect model to follow.

Sister Naomi Peterson Green peacefully departed this earth on April 13, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Charles Ray and Pastor Emma Peterson; and siblings, Charles Wilson Peterson and Charlie Henry Peterson.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her three daughters, Anitra Peterson, Monique Williams, and Monica Spencer; three granddaughters, Abigail Williams, Ariana Spencer, and Danyale Spencer; step-daughter, Chartina (Arthur) Biggs; grandson, Devontae Jones; special sons, Shelton Williams, Daniel Spencer, and Rick Calhoun; three nephews, Kenneth (Contressa) Peterson, Keith (Jhermira) Peterson, and Terrance
(Amber) Smith; four nieces, Avis Peterson, Emma Peterson, Laquita Peterson, and Myisha Peterson; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, church members,
and friends.
