Ms. Francis Pryor

Frances Rivers Pryor was an enigma to many, but loved by all who knew her. She began her journey through life on March 23, 1944 in Thomaston, Alabama. As a child, she grew up in Thomaston and attended the local schools. At the age of 18, she graduated from Marengo County High School.

Following her graduation, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama. While in Birmingham, she attended Booker T. Washington Business College, majoring in Accounting. When Frances finished her Accounting Certificate, she moved to a small town in Mississippi (Itta Bena), where she began working in the Registrar’s Office at Mississippi Valley State College. From there she moved to Houston, Texas where she was employed at Texas Southern University as an Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs. While in Texas, Frances met and married Harold Pryor, who preceded her in death.

In the late 1990s she returned home to Birmingham and began the next part of her journey at Miles College as the Secretary of Social Sciences under Dr. Digambra Mishra. She served faithfully in this role until her retirement in July 2022. While at Miles College and throughout her career, she touched many lives, helped many students and was truly a special individual.

Frances Pryor will always be loved and respected as the enigma and private person who gave her all to life until her death on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Frances will be missed and remembered by a multitude of family, friends, co-workers and students.
