Obituary

Mrs. Sara Hurt-Blue was born on December 22, 1927, in Grady, Alabama.

On April 27, 2026, Sara peacefully departed this life and entered into the eternal kingdom of God.

Sara was preceded in death by her father, the late Mr. Tobe Hurt, Sr., and Mrs. Mary B. Hurt.

Sara Hurt was united in marriage to Mr. Reaf Blue. They shared a wonderful and glorious marriage for 64 years.

Sara graduated from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. For years, she served as an educator at the Alabama

School for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega, Alabama. Sara also served as an occupational therapist. Sara was one of the first black

female occupational therapists employed by Spain Rehabilitation Services at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

“Aunt Sara,” as she was affectionately called, had an unyielding love for her husband, Reaf, her family, and the Rising-West

Princeton community.

Sara also enjoyed bowling with her husband and socializing with friends. She competed in bowling tournaments and won several

awards with the UAB employee bowling league.

Sara offered countless hours of encouragement and loving kindness to each of her nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members.

Sara also enjoyed investing time with her many friends and spending time with her church family and social groups.

Sara leaves to cherish her precious memories to her husband, Mr. Reaf Blue; brother, Tobe Hurt, Jr.; and her precious family and

a host of friends.
