Mrs. Pandora B Sledge

Pandora B. Sledge was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on May 26, 1968, to the late Joan Barksdale.

Pandora dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was raised in Metropolitan Community Church and later served faithfully at Mt. Zion Community Church for many years. In 2020, she became a devoted member of The Worship Center. She remained grateful for the love, support, and prayers extended to her and her family from all of her church families throughout her life.

She was educated through the Birmingham City School System and graduated from Huffman High School in 1986. Never one to stop growing, Pandora continued her education and earned her bachelor’s degree from UAB in 1997.

Pandora built her finance career over 35 years, starting with SouthTrust Bank and the Jefferson County Department of Health, and concluding with 21 years of service to the City of Birmingham, where she built lifelong friendships and meaningful connections before retiring in 2023.

Pandora was married to the love of her life, Vincent Sledge. Together, they built a marriage rooted in love, laughter, loyalty, and perseverance. Through every season of life, they stood side by side, a true example of partnership and devotion.

Pandora was a devoted mother who took great pride in her family and treasured every moment spent with them. One of the greatest joys of her life was being called “GiGi” and being surrounded by her grandchildren, Sabria, Joshua, Judah, and Creed. Those moments as “GiGi” always brought a smile to her face.

Pandora was the kind of woman who loved deeply, laughed loudly, gave generously, and never passed up a good shopping trip. She had a spirit that could brighten any room and a presence that made people feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. Whether she was spending time with family, sharing wisdom, enjoying a good sale, or simply making memories with those she loved, Pandora lived life fully and unapologetically.

On Friday, May 22, 2026, Pandora peacefully received her eternal rest, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Left to cherish her beautiful memories are her devoted husband, Vincent Sledge; her children, Krystin (Phillip) Godfrey, Justin Sledge, Jasmine Sledge, and Cherie Sledge; her brother, Ronald (Kim) Barksdale; her sister, Antoinette Barksdale; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, and all those fortunate enough to have loved her. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Sledge.

Though she will be dearly missed, we find comfort and joy in knowing that Pandora lived a life well lived, well loved, and yes, well shopped right up until the very end.
