Mrs. Mary Virginia Davis Evans

Mrs. Mary Virginia Davis Evans was born in Boligee, Alabama, on April 11, 1938, to Annie L. Gordon and Walker Hardy. She was educated in the Birmingham School System.

Virginia married Alfred A. Evans, Jr. on August 31, 1958. To this union, three daughters and two sons were born, along with one goddaughter.

Virginia worked as the Day Care Cook and Assistant Director. She served on the Usher Board, was a member of Groveland’s Senior Citizens, a caregiver to the elderly, and the church cook for many different occasions.

On Friday, May 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., Mrs. Mary Virginia Evans gained her wings at home on her porch, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Annie L. Gordon and Walker Hardy; her husband, Alfred A. Evans, Jr.; her brother, Smith Davis; her nephew, Roger Walton; and her grandson, Ryan J. Evans.

Leaving to cherish her precious memories are her sister, Eliza Walton of Cincinnati, Ohio; her children, Barbara H. (Lyndon) White, Joe N. (Kathy) Evans, Cynitha D. (Jerry) Clayton, Debra L. (Robert) Price, Rodeny L. Evans, and Deborah L. (Allen) Pruitt, all of Birmingham, Alabama; and her beloved dog, Bitty, whom she loved dearly; 4 Nieces, 3 Nephews, 2 Great-Nieces, 3 Great-Nephews, 14 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, and a host of cousins, friends, and the Groveland Baptist Church family.
