Elaine Martin Etheridge
December 22, 1953 – April 9, 2025
Mother Sharon Elaine Martin Ethridge was born December 22, 1953, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Charlie Otis Martin, Sr., and the late Mae Etta Pickett Martin.
Mother Sharon Elaine Martin Etheridge had a faithful relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Bishop John D. Redmon, Sr.
As a phenomenal woman of God, Mother Etheridge loved listening to Gospel music and always kept God first.
Her educational experience was through the Birmingham City school system. She worked for Carraway Hospital for nine years. Afterwards, she began working for Etheridge Brother's Barber Shop #1 and #3 where she was the receptionist and known as the "COOK." Everyone in the city of Birmingham can say that she has fed them at some point in time in their lives.
Mother Sharon Elaine Etheridge was active in her Church. She was a member GOF Board of Trustees, President of the Mother's Board, President Shepard Committee, President of Youth Department, Sunday School Teacher, President of Usher Board, Member of Ministers Board, Church Secretary, Prison Ministry, Kitchen Ministry, and was President of the Greater Mt. Zion Community Development Corporation Non-Profit. She practically ran the church.
In November of 1983, she married the love of her life, Mr. John H. Etheridge, Sr. Their union led to three amazing children, Latonya, Jeremy, and Jeremy Jerome.
Sharon departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, April 09, 2025. She was preceded her in death by her son, Jeremy Winwick; parents, Charlie and Mae Etta; and siblings, Robert, Charlie Jr., Derrick, and Charles Marie.
Memories of her life will be forever cherished by her husband, John Sr.; daughters, Latonya (Everett), Janice (Hillard), and Nicole (Anthony); sons, Jeremy Jerome (Arlene), Jeremiah, Ricky, and John Jr.; siblings, Carl (Catherine), Kelvin (Natalie), Sandra, and Ella; grandchildren, Brittany, Tiffany, Triandius, Jacoby, Jawari, John Wesley, Jamaya, Jameria, Anthony Jr., Ra'Mal, Tameka, and Appifany; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Simone, in laws: Theodore (Betty), Danny (Faye), Teresa, Alice, and Annette, Angel, Harmony, Nathaniel, Triandius Jr., and
Adonis; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; special cousin, Linda; and godson, Cedric (Fudd).
