Armstrong
October 18, 1951 – March 23, 2022
Monte Ervin Armstrong was born on October 18, 1951. He
was born and raised in Fairland, AL. Monte was the fifth of
ten children born to Eddie Will and Gussie Armstrong.
Monte was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Fairfield,
AL, under the leadership of Reverend E.J. Walker. Monte
completed his high school education at Fairfield High School
where he was a member of the Fairfield Tigers football team.
Monte was also a scholar and earned a full scholarship to
attend Miles College. Later he decided to joined the United
States Army and did a tour in Germany. After returning, he
was employed at various jobs, but his most important job was
being a loving son and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Monte leaves to cherish his legacy and memories to: his one
and only son Emmett Earl Marc (Brandy); four brothers,
Carl Armstrong of Birmingham, AL, Brawnski Armstrong
of Detroit, MI, Winston Armstrong (Laura) of Forestdale,
AL, and Edgar Armstrong (Dorie) of Jackson, MI; half-
brother, Wayne King (Marnita) of Birmingham, AL; three
sisters, Jacqueline Armstrong of Bessemer, AL, Windell Ross
(Carter Ross, Jr.) of Irondale, AL, Veronice Jenkins (Derick)
of Birmingham, AL; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins,
close friends, and associates.
