On Friday morning, October 10, 2025, our beloved MONICA passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband by her side.
Monica was the sixth child of seven children born from the union of the late Mr. William Tyson, Sr. and the late Mrs. Velma Lee Tyson. She was the loving and devoted wife of her husband and 40-year life partner Mr. Willie Clark, Sr. She was the proud mother and grandmother of three sons and three grandchildren.
Monica graduated from Charles B. Glenn High School in 1979 and shortly after graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB). Monica had recently retired from her long-time position as an Auditor in the Hotel Industry. Monica was a member of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church.
Monica was preceded in death by her mother and father; four brothers: Mr. John Davis, Mr. James Davis, Mr. Melvin Tyson, Sr. and Mr. William Tyson, Jr.; and one sister, Mrs. Delores Williams.
Monica leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Mr. Willie Clark, Sr.; brother, Mr. Arnold Tyson (Brenda); sisters, Mrs. Lorine Gordon, Mrs. Gloria Trawick (Nathaniel), Mrs. Sandra Walker (Carl), Dr. Valerie Justice, and Mrs. Victoria Berry (Floyd); sons, Mr. Bryan Clayton, Mr. William Clayton (Samantha), and Mr. Daniel Clayton (Katerah); stepchildren, Tonia Clark, Angela Clark Bell (Jeff), Willie Clark, Jr. (Katrese), Eric Clark (Devise), and Darian Horne; grandchildren, Ms. Joi Clayton, Mr. Max Clayton, and Ms. Karia Clayton; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Norma Jean Tyson, Ms. Nadine Clark, and Mrs. Mary Lee Boykin (Dewayne); brother- in-law, Anthony Clark (Carol); best friend, Ms. Libra Green; goddaughter, Ms. Tiameriya Franklin; and a host of family and friends.
