OBITUARY

REMEMBERING MINISTER ANNIE COLEMAN

“Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so, will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish.”

Minister Annie E. Prather Coleman was born April 9, 1933, in Jefferson County, Alabama, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Will & Gertrude Prather.

She was educated in the Birmingham Public School System. She worked at Carver High School, Cooper Green Hospital & Northern Health Clinic.

Minister Coleman confessed Christ at an early age. She united with Friendship Baptist Church, Collegeville, under the leadership of Reverend Holden. She later moved her membership to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Pratt City, under the leadership of Pastor T.L. Lewis, where she served faithfully, until God called her home.

In January 1949, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Edward L. Coleman, Sr.

To this union, five children were born.

Minister Coleman had a passion for reading God’s Word, entertaining guest and cooking!

She answered God’s call to eternity and moved to her heavenly home on August 25, 2026.

She is preceded in death by husband, Edward L. Coleman, Sr.; son Edward L. Coleman, Jr.; four brothers, Floyd Depre, Willie C. Prather (Bill), Louiss S. Prather, and Eugene Field;

Three sisters; Pearlie M. Brown, Gloria Evans, and Rogers Louise Cooper.

Yet remaining with love and forever memories of her are two sons, Gregory Coleman and Reverend A.B. Coleman; two daughters, Annette and Beverly; one grandson (adopted son) Lafornd; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; many special bonus daughters; nieces, nephews, prayer partners, and an abundance of close family, church family and friends.
