Marshall Jackson,
Jr
August 11, 1942 – July 18, 2022
Our Beloved
On August 11, 1942, a gift was sent to us by God. A light that shined, that refused to be hidden. Marshall Jackson, Jr., son of the late Marshall and Dorothy Louise Jackson, Sr. He was the second child of seven children. His sister, Essie, and brothers, Larry and Vince, preceded him in death.
Marshall at an early age came to know and accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor S. T. Bowen. Marshall was united in holy matrimony to Barbara J. Hogan. To this union they were blessed with Denise, Eric, Annquinetta, Jeffery, and Sterling. Marshall was educated at Hooper City High School in Birmingham, Alabama, and graduated in 1960.
Marshall worked for Chryslers in Detroit, Michigan. Marshall was a source of strength, courage, and love to all that came to know him. Marshall loved his children. He also loved family gatherings especially on Christmas holidays where he would sing one of his favorite Christmas songs, "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire." Did I mention, Marshall was an awesome singer. Another one of his favorite songs was "Amazing Grace;" there wouldn't be a dry eye in the house. Marshall's journey to Christ was not without the many trials, tribulations, and living tasks that must be performed by all mortals who seek salvation. He lived a life inspired by hope. He never lost that desire to love and be loved.
On Monday, July 18, 2022, the Lord called Marshall home from labor to reward. God gently says to us, "He is with me, there's no place better to be." Marshall leaves to celebrate a legacy of love and faithfulness: his beloved three sons, Jeffery (Monica) Thompson, Eric Jackson, and Sterling (Marlena) Jackson; three sisters, Bernice (Joe) Cooper, Sandra Fay Boyd, and Laverne (Will) Scott; sister-in-law, Fattiyyah Hasan; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
