Obituary

Marian B. Williams was born October 4, 1937, to the late Dock and Allie Benson in Marion, Alabama. Marian was the eldest of seven children born to this union. She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend A.L. Lawson at Christian Valley Baptist Church.
Marian attended the public school system in Birmingham, Alabama, Hudson Elementary, and A.H. Parker High Schools. She also attended Booker T. Washington Business College and graduated with honors.

In the early 1960's, she moved to Hartford, Connecticut, and began working for the State of Connecticut at the Veterans Home and Hospital as an Institutional Helper in the food services department. In October of 1984, she was promoted to food service supervisor and then in 1992, she was promoted to dietary technician. While living in Connecticut, she met and married Ulysses Williams. After serving for over thirty
years, Marian retired to enjoy the fruits of her labor.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses Williams, and four siblings, Harold, Gwendolyn, Leonard, and Sadie.

She leaves to cherish her memories forever: daughter, Cynthia D. Benson of Brooklyn, NY; bonus daughter, Joy Josephs of Rocky Hill, CT; grandson, Kyla M. Benson (Kimberly) of Cromwell, CT; bonus granddaughter, Jessica Spencer of Wethersfield, CT; three great-granddaughters,  Kyla K. Benson of Coney Island, NY, and Kaylin and Kendra Benson, both of Cromwell, CT; brother, Dorkas L. Benson (Delois) of Strongsville, OH; sister, Vergie B. Spears (Donald) of Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Marian will be remembered most for her witty, loving, but "Sassy" attitude.
