She was educated in the Birmingham City School system and later graduated from Job Corps.

Jackson; grandparents, Moses Jackson, Sr., Johnnie Mae Jackson, Coleman Maddox, Jr. and Mary Hazel Maddox; great grandparents, John Edward Cullens, Louise Cullens, Coleman Maddox, Sr., Elizabeth Maddox, John W. Moore and Hazel Moore; nephew, Amor Maddox; great aunt, Loretta Moneyham and a special cousin, Tameka Y. Sewell.
