Lucy Acoff was born on April 3, 1946, to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Mamie Brown. She transitioned on to her heavenly journey on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Acoff, Jr.; daughter, Frankie Y. Acoff; sister, Lizzie Austin; and eight brothers, Albert Sr., Pete Sr., Leroy, James Jr., Walter, Wilma, Coleman, Isaac, and Bonnie Brown.
She confessed her belief in Christ early in life at St. James Baptist Church in Uniontown, Alabama. After moving to Birmingham, Alabama, she joined New Salem Primitive Baptist Church. Lucy attended Keith High School in Orrville, Alabama, in 1964. Soon after, she married the love of her life on August 17, 1966. She leaves behind her three remaining children, Delois (Terry), Janice (Chuck), and James; special daughter,
LaTasha Walls; eight grandchildren, De Antwaun (Tyiesha) Acoff, Sharon Michelle Acoff, Calvin O'Shea (Sequoria) Acoff, Niya Monique Davis, Demisha Jean Acoff, Amber Davida Lowe, Aubrion James Xavier Acoff, and Erin Nicole Davis; three step-grandchildren, Aaron, Cornella, and Jontrell Collins; seven great-grandchildren, Jaquorian Camari Fox, Noah Kendall Acoff, Marqueze Keonte' Ford, Jr., Makenzie Lee Ford, Ma'Khi De'Anthony Reese, Navy Kapri Acoff, and Chole Neveah Acoff. Old memories will be carried on by nine sisters-in-law, Annie Pearl Brown, Edith Brown, Roberta Brown,
Louis George, Georgia Walker, Earlene Williams, Loretta Hampton, Mary Acoff, and Liza Acoff; and two brothers-in-law, Sam Acoff and Jerry Acoff. A special acknowledgement to her nieces, Willie Ann and Clara Austin, Fannie Mae Johnson, and Christal Wilson. Her life will forever be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
