OBITUARY

Lorene (Lo) Martin Hardy was born on September 5, 1929, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Eddie and Odessa Martin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, Hugh R. Hardy, Sr. and her three beloved sisters Lugenia Minor, Catherine Jones, and Gloria Lucille Russell.

She was a product of the Birmingham City School System and attended Booker T. Washington Elementary and Ulman High School. Lorene was affectionally called "Lo" by her late husband Hugh. They met while riding on a trolley and their love story continued until he passed away in
2019. She accepted Christ at an early age. She originally was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and later moved her membership to Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Lorene enjoyed being informed and she would read each section of the Birmingham News. Later she
would watch the local news and turn to CNN to see what was happening abroad. Her love of music filled her home while cooking and baking with music from John Legend, Joe, Celine Dion, Michale Bolton, and the late Whitney Houston.

She worked faithfully for the Peerson family until she was 74 years old and decided to give it a rest. Her connection with the family continued after her retirement and didn't end until her last days on this earth when they came for a visit.

Lorene was loved and cherished by her three sisters' children and nieces/nephews on her husband's side dearly. She loved talking and would welcome their phone calls except for when she was watching "The Bold and the Beautiful." Everyone learned and knew the rule. Don't call
Aunt Lorene between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm because she was watching her story. Her legacy and memory will be forever cherished by her children, Jerry Lynn Martin (preceded in death), Hugh R. Hardy, Jr. (Yolanda), Barbara Pitts( George-preceded in death), and Sherron  Jinadu(Babatunde). Her great joys were her grandchildren, Stacy Powell of Henderson, Nevada, Candice Hardy, Martin Morrow of Burbank, California, Brandon Hardy (Christian), John McConis Jr., (Trisha), and Adaeze Jinadu and Amara Jinadu of Atlanta, Georgia; and her heart
strings of great-grandchildren Casey Powell and Carlie Powell of Henderson, Nevada, and Mason Hardy and Hayes Hardy. Her sister-in-law Mary Graham of Massachusetts, her devoted cousins and her loving nephews and nieces.
