Letha Rice Jones, born March 11, 1934, in Coatopa, Alabama. Born to Rosie Lena Branch Rice and Willie Rice Sr. in Sumter County, Coatopa, Alabama. She departed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 24, 2025.
Letha confessed her life to Christ at an early age and joined Buck's Chapel AME Zion Church in Coatopa, Alabama. She received her education from Buck's Chapel School and Sumter County Training School in Livingston, Alabama.
Letha then moved to Buffalo, New York where she made a home for herself and her family. She was married to Emory Jones Sr. within this union five children were born. She proceeded to make a church home at Calvary CME Church in Buffalo, NY. where she was a member of the Missionary Society.
Letha later traveled to Birmingham, AL. where she retired from Arlington Antebellum Home. She was known for her beautiful food spreads, cakes, and pies.
Letha made a new church home at St. Luke AME Zion Church where she was also a member of the Missionary Society, a Deaconess, a Sunday School member, and part of the St. Luke Kitchen Staff.
Letha found her final resting place in Birmingham, AL on May 24, 2025.
Letha is preceded in death by her parents Willie Rice Sr. and Rosie Lena Branch Rice. Five sisters Bertha R. McCrear, Lucille R. Milhouse, Mamie R. Larkin, Mariah Rice, Bethune Rice. Two brothers Willie C. Rice and Joe Louis Rice. Two children Josephine Jones and Antonio Jones Sr.
Letha leaves to cherish her precious memories one sister Rosie (Kinnis) Kelly. Two sons Jerome Jones Sr. and Emory Jones Jr and one daughter Patricia Anderson. Two special granddaughters Leatha Skipper and Brenda Grant. A host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends
