Laura Mae
Williams
May 6, 1934 – March 21, 2023
Laura Mae Williams was the tenth child born to the late Thomas and Carrie Marshall on May 6, 1934, in Marengo County. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age, and she joined Saint James Church in Faunsdale, Alabama.
After graduating from Marengo County Training School, she moved to Los Angeles, California, and later moved to Birmingham, Alabama, and joined the 46th Street Baptist Church in East Birmingham under the leadership of the late G.D. Craig where she served faithfully in the nurses guild. She was later united in matrimony to the late James E. Williams (Bubble) for 32 years. She was employed at University of Alabama for 25 years. She later joined the Greater Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Center Point under the leadership of Pastor Carlos Williams where she also served faithfully on the nurses guild throughout over 40 years of service.
Laura loved the Lord. She was a sweet, kind-hearted, very humble, and genuine person who loved everybody as God loves us. God called a beautiful soul home in her sleep. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Carrie Marshall; husband, James E. Williams; and ten brothers, William, Marion, Solomon, Thomas, Walter, Jim, Houston, Earnest, Sylvester, and John Marshall.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her two sons, Charles Marshall and James Marshall, Jr.; special daughter, Deborah Shepherd; two granddaughters, Monika Coleman and Jessica Townsend; two great- grandsons, Jaiden and Jakobe; sisters-in-law, Deborah Hill, Freida Sander, Rosie Marshall, Ida Marshall, and Barbara Williams (Arthur); one brother-in-law, Arthur Felder, Sr. (Vivian); very special niece and sister, Carrie Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
