A Life Well–Lived

We rejoice in the celebration of life for Justine Finley Threats; born to the late John, Sr., and Mary Finley, on February 2, 1945, in Bellamy, Alabama.

Justine was educated in the Jefferson County School System and graduated from Westfield High School; class of 1963. She loved and nurtured life-long friendships with her classmates.

Surrendering her life to Christ at an early age, Justine joined Hopewell Baptist Church under the pastorate of Pastor Atmore. Justine united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Edward Threats on April 24, 1964. To this union, they were blessed with 2 children; Andre' Ricardo and Gina Renae.

Justine's professional history reflected commitment to excellence through her employment with Children's Hospital where she was loved and respected by the staff and patients. Retiring after 35 years of service, her love of children led her to the YWCA Birmingham Daycare where she continued her caregiving. She extended her time and care-taking to those who were homebound, or just needed a friend.

In her retirement, Justine formed a bond with like-minded women, called The Golden Girls. With a sense of sisterhood, The Golden Girls live life to the fullest. You could always find Justine enjoying her (grand/great grand) children, family, friends; being the life of the party! She also took pride in her beautiful potted plants and roses.

Monday, October 6, 2025 marked the blessed transformation of her life. Justine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Threats; parents, John, Sr., & Mary Finley; 2 brothers: John, and Grady Finley; 2 sisters: Mildred Pearce and Rosetta Finley.

Justine loved her family, and leaves to cherish her memory: loving and devoted children: Andre' (Pamela) Threats of Lithonia, GA., Gina Threats of Birmingham, AL.; 4 siblings: Richard (Minnie) Finley, Ronald (Janice) Finley, Yvette Harris, and Mary Jordan – all of Birmingham, AL; In-Laws: Eleanor Finley of Ellenwood, GA., Bernadette Johnson, Carl Threats, Lucretia Threats, Doris Threats and Eric Threats - all of Birmingham, AL., and Larry (Deborah) Threats of Fairfield, AL.; 2 uncles: Woodrow, and Lemuel Johnson, Jr.; 1 aunt: Marguerite King; 7 grandchildren: Kayla, and Michaelangelo Wilkins, Tyler, and Cameron Threats, Ja'Lyn Smith, Alexandria, and Andre' Threats; 7 great-grandchildren: MaKayla,
Jacob, Dallas, and Harlem Brown, Chassidy Jewell, Camden Watt, and Aliyah Peterson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
