It is with great sadness that the family of Jo seph Wilson Johnson shares the news of his passing on November 2 8 , at the age of 62 . He died in the emergency room of Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Joseph was born to the late Mack and Annie (Mabry) Johnson in Birmingham, AL. He attended Birmingham City Schools , Burnetta C . Hill Elementary , and A . H . Parker High School. He accepted Christ at an early age at " Th e Church of the Living God " under the leadership of the late Bishop Mason. He was employed with U. S . Gypsum, retired from Birmingham Jefferson County Transit , and ended with the UAB Transit bus system . His hobby was " Driving". He was an obedient son , a loving brother, a faithful husband , a friend to the friendless. He was a teacher to the young men and women that he met telling them the importance of making the right decisions now to have a better life later . He was an invaluable friend . Oh, my how we will mis s you brother. Because of the last wishes of Joseph Johnson , there will only be a memorial service on Friday , December 4th at 1:00 PM at Smith and Gaston Funeral H ome for the immediate family. His body will be cremated.

He is preceded in death by a brother Larry Johnson . Married ( divorced ) Debra Manning . He leaves to cherish his memory two brothers , Linzell Johnson and Steve Johnson (Jackson , GA). Four s i sters , Pauline (Charles , deceased) Sellers , Mary Johnson , Maxine Johnson Colbert, and Linda (Greg ) Miller (Decatu r , AL). Nieces , Tamara (Carlton) Bell , Angela Sellers (Portugal), Cheryl Johnson, Erica Sellers, Lavonne (Daniel) Criss, and Kris Freeman . Nephews , Eric J ohnson , Brian Sellers , and Jonathan Johnson . An aunt , Essie Turner . A host of great - nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Although he has no children of his own, he raised those around him like his own including Samuel and Zachariah Garner.
