Johnnie Hughes was born in West Greene, Alabama, to the late Richard Hughes and Lottie Green Hughes.
Johnnie Hughes worked tirelessly for 45 years at ACIPCO Pipe Shop Plant.
Johnnie Hughes was united in holy matrimony to the late Semely Coleman Hughes for 69 years. To this union, four daughters and three sons were born. Brother Hughes confessed Christ at an early age. He became a member of Olivet Monumental Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. Reverend R. L. Alford, where he diligently served as a deacon. He later joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Ensley, under the leadership of the legendary Pastor W. M. Norwood. On July 19, 2022 Johnnie made his transition from this earthly life to eternity at Grandview Medical Center Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lottie Green Hughes; wife, Semely Coleman Hughes; and two sons, Christopher Byron Hughes and Clifford Earl Hughes.
He leaves to cherish: four daughters, Quintella Morgan (Jerry), Arkadella Gee (David), Queen E. Hughes, and Rosie Kellie (Kennis); one son, Reverend Johnnie Hughes, Jr. (Brenda); twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
