On Monday, June 21, 1948, the sun begins to shine on Johnnie L. Cooper born to the late Lornell Cooper and Martha Ree Cooper. At a young age, Johnnie was baptized and accepted Christ as his and Savior. Johnnie the second oldest child was affectionately known as "Bae Bro" to his six other siblings.
He attended Douglass High School in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was considered a very intelligent and musically inclined student. He played the drums in his high school band and was named the "number one" drummer in the city of Memphis, Tennessee.
In high school, he became a caddy where he developed a love for the game of golf. He was an extraordinary chess player where he taught many others how to play and was known for his impeccable style of dressing.
Throughout the majority of his adult life, he lived in Dallas, Texas where he was employed by both USPS and Frito Lay. He
later moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he resided until death.
On Thursday, May 30, 2024, the sunset and Johnnie L. Cooper received his heavenly wings to join his beloved parents, Lornell Cooper and Martha Ree Cooper, his brother Lornell Cooper, Jr., and his sister, Linda Carolyn Westbrook.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his best friend and committed companion, Cynthia Sharpe of Birmingham, Alabama; two daughters, Kelly M. Jones of Memphis, Tennessee and Tuesdee Cooper of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Travis L. Cooper and Trent Cooper of Dallas, Texas; four grandsons, Ontonio M. Biggs of Memphis, Tennessee, Caleb Cooper, Phoenix Cooper and John Hill; three granddaughters Ariella Adams, Journey Lee and Genesis Cooper all of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Jacquelyn (James) Ford and Sharon Cooper both of Seattle, Washington; two brothers, Dewayne(Rose) Cooper and Marlon Cooper both of Memphis, Tennessee; one aunt, LouBertha Boyland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
