John Jones, Jr., was born to John Jones, Sr. and Rose Marie Jones on August 9, 1961, in Birmingham, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of the Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church. John was educated in the Birmingham School System. He attended John H. Phillips High School. In 1981 he graduated with an associate degree from Lawson State Community College. After graduating in 1981 he followed his big sister's footsteps and he furthered his education at Tuskegee University.

John worked as a Regional Manager for Burger King Corporation for over 20 years until his health failed. He spent his working years influencing, mentoring and hiring teenagers and young adults. He was a great baby brother to Rose, and he was loved by many; if anyone needed a place to stay, John opened his home to them until they could get up on their feet. To know John was to love him because he never met a stranger. John leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion that touched countless lives. John was greeted in heaven by his father, John Jones, Sr., and his brothers Anthony and Raymond Jones, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving Mother and Sister.

John was preceded in death by his, Father John Jones, Sr., brothers, Anthony and Raymond Jones.

Left to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted mother that he cherished Rose Marie Jones, a loving and devoted sister Rose Marie (Donald) Blankenship; three loving daughters Jessica (Keaton) Franklin, Natasha (Kenneth) Williams, Tiffaney Payne, a loving and devoted cousin who  grew up as brother Kelvin (Anu) Whisenhunt, two loving and devoted cousins who he helped raise and they referred to John as their daddy, Darius and Brian Whisenhunt; one special cousin Alvin Mumford, one grandson Kenneth Williams, Jr., four granddaughters Ryanne Davis, Stephanie Williams, Kennedi Williams, and Selena Williams; four loving aunts Betty Jean Pugh, and Joanne (Rodney) Horne, Arthur Jean Jones, and Celia Jones; four loving uncles, Thomas Green, Clarence Jones, and Henry "Moe" Jones, and Clifford Whisenhunt; five very special friend/brothers Sam Powe, Marvin Brown, Ronald Otey, Jeronne T. Ansari, and Anthony Scott; one niece Janya Payne, two nephews Kyier and  Kendall Stewart and a host of cousins, friends and Acipco-Neighborhood Family and A. G. Gason Villa-Neighborhood Family.
