Jerry Guy McClendon entered eternal rest March 5, 2026. Jerry was born September 28, 1957. In Birmingham, Alabama to Hessie Fields and Guy McClendon.
He was educated in the Birmingham School System and attended Parker High School. He professed his life to Christ under the leadership of Rev. I.S. Patterson Sr. when he joined First Baptist Church, Adamsville, Alabama.
Jerry entered the United States Army in October 1975, where he achieved Certificate of Ranger Elite with the 4th Training Brigade in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He went on to complete Armor Reconnaissance Advanced specialist training at Fort Knox, Kentucky 1976, Wheeled Vehicle Organizational maintenance course, serving in Germany 1976. He received numerous outstanding soldier awards and recognition of distinguished, meritorious service in the 15th Battalion Company B 1975. Jerry received a lifetime honorary membership in the 3rd Squadron, 7th United States Calvary, for service as border patrol on the Soviet /Germany border in 1977.
In recent years, Jerry went on to serve his community as a Certified Peer Support Specialist with the organization F.O.R.M.L.L. and formed close friendships with many people, including his mentor Philip Nelson.
Jerry is remembered for his cool, laid-back demeanor and his amazing smile. He was compassionate and caring, always willing to help others.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory his wife Angela Fowler (High school sweetheart) of Birmingham, His Mother Ms. Hessie Fields (aged 91),
sister Elaine Moore of Birmingham, brother Lorenzo Fields of Wichita Kansas. His children, son Christopher Colbert, daughter Dena King. Close First cousins Larry Battle, and Sandra Faye Hardy, both of Wichita, Kansas; 6 Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, nephews and other relatives that loved him dearly.
