Jerry Until Matthews, Sr

Jerry Until Matthews Sr was born January 16th, 1972 in Birmingham, Alabama to Gary B. Matthews Jr and Gail Patrick Matthews. Jerry grew up in the Norwood community and was educated in the Jefferson County School system. Jerry gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Morning Star A.F.M.

Blessed with gifted hands, Jerry had many talents, and of those talents, long distance truck driving was a calling of his that stayed with him throughout the entirety of his life.

Through his marriage with Yolanda Hicks Matthews, Jerry was blessed with 3 beautiful children, Sasha, Jerry Jr., and Jalanda, as well as 2 grandchildren, Dorian and Nova.

On April 27th, 2026, Jerry departed this world and was preceded in death by his parents, Gary Jr. and Gail Patrick; and nephew Contrevious Reynolds (Wayne).

Jerry loved his family more than anything in this world, and leaves to cherish his memory: children, Sasha (Dorian and Nova), Jerry Jr., and Jalanda; brothers, Gary III and Cary Sr. (Constance); nieces and nephews, Jessica, Alexis, Angelica, Cary Jr. (Jana), Cardarrius (Lucia), Carnell (Melissa), and Markeisha; 1st cousins, Odell Smith, Cheryl Smith, and Alfred Barnes; cousins Barbara Anchrum and Linda Hogan; and a host of great nieces and nephews, many extended family members, and friends.
