Obituary

Janice Olivia Geeter Bell, was born December 30, 1948, in Birmingham, AL to the union of the late James and Geneva Mitcham Geeter. An only child, her spiritual foundation began in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Throughout her lifetime she practiced love and kindness to her family and friends. She never met a stranger and brought joy to everyone she met. Janice touched the lives of many with her sweet spirit and sense of humor. In 1969, Janice united in Holy Matrimony to Roosevelt Bell Jr. This union was blessed with a daughter and two sons: Roosevelt Bell, III who preceded her death in 1975, Monica Lyniece Bell and Ryan Mitcham Bell.

She was a graduate of the historic A.H. Parker High School Class of 1965. Her educational journey continued at Spelman College, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Fulfilling her life's work, Janice retired from the State of Alabama as a Disability Examiner.

As the matriarch, she continued to nurture her children even after adulthood. Throughout the years, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and was a natural at nature. A quiet, humble spirit, Janice was devoted to creating a loving home for all to enter and enjoy. At Midday on Saturday, November 26, 2022, the Lord closed the eyes of Sister Janice Olivia Geeter Bell.
